Things Have Been Hectic

Well, my life has been total chaos since mid December. My boss has been very ill. I've been alone at the office. He is retiring the 31st of this month. I'll be starting a new job on April 1st.

I haven't been riding my horses. By the time I finish at the office I'm beat. I've been keeping up with a few of my lessons, so any free time I have tends to go to the students, and their horses.

They have certainly stepped up to help me out with feeding and cleaning. Another old student is coming back soon and says she is more than happy to help pick up the slack. Hallelujah. She is the one that was thinking of taking Top for the winter.

That's Top in the picture. I haven't been on him since early January. Figured it was better to leave his fragile self alone, rather than go erratic on him. Too hard for him when there isn't a routine. I'm going to try and move him home in April. It will make it much easier to have all the horses in one location.

My next Top goal is to take him down the beach. I figure after a couple weeks of consistent riding, he ought to do well. I'll take him with a safe sane horse and rider. I really really don't want Top running loose on the beach if I come off. lol That would be awful. I don't think he'd be an easy catch. I think he'd lose his little mind and run in a panic.

So, hopefully I will be posting more regularly soon. Once I have some sort of real schedule it should be easier to ride, post on my blog and breathe. lol

Glad to hear from you, sorry things are still so busy. I have a picture in my mind of you and TOp on that beautiful beach!. I so hope it goes well and we get to see pictures!

Good thing you remembered to add breathing to the list! Funny how we forget to do the simple things...

Having the horses all in one place does make things a bit easier. Here's hoping the time off did Top some good. Look at it as a summer vacation from school for him. Something we could all use once in a while and seem to rarely get.

Just glad to see ya typing again.
Doing all you do, any extra typing is appreciated:)

Top looks very calm in that picture, almost sleepy:)
Or maybe that's just me.

a pitiful fourth.
humpfh.
Here's to a great gallop on the beach!

(not jealous, I am NOT jealous...)
sigh.

HP,

Glad things will be settling back down for you on the employment front. I know your boss really appreciated all of your hard work these last months and your new boss is one lucky person to have you come on board.

Well, GL might not be jealous of your riding on the beach, but I sure am!

I bet Top will love it!

He does look pretty relaxed. He is really cool when he's on. It is just those 'check-out' moments of his that are difficult. If I could figure out a routine, system or style that would keep him in his happy zone I'd be home free.

HP, that's the hard part with one that's so screwed up at such a deep level. Hopefully the more new things that he does will overlay the brain circuit that is misfiring. Heck, sometimes it's hard to convince myself that life has changed for the better!

HP, I've missed you. So sorry to hear that your friend/boss isn't doing so well these days.
best to you...
and I do hope that you and Top will get to that beach. Think of how fortifying that'll be for both of you.

Riding on the beach sounds like fun. Wish I had access to that here but it's too far to go when I don't get enough time to ride as it is.
